    A question of strength

The heart transplant is nearly complete, I am wondering about some sensible upgrades to the rest of the drove line

Wthile he ZF4H22 auto is pretty capable of handling the 4.6 is there anything that can be done to it to beef it up? chevy boxes I know can have all sorts of upgrades but I have no idea about the ZF?

    Transfer case ??

    Axles: ashcroft etc

    Crown wheel and pinion: 4.11

    Any ideas anyone?

The 4.6 I'm pretty sure came with the ZF 4HP24EH rather than the 22. It is the beefed up verison. Stronger parts, better clutches and I think a bigger torque converter.

The LT230 is a very strong transfer, maybe just a one piece cross shaft in the diff.

The axles, look to Hi-tuff axles, ashcroft axles in the UK, Rovertracks in the US or Jack McNamara diffs axles

CW/P, the 3.54 and the 4.11 are about the same strength, For a stronger set look to 4.14 from Bill at Great Basin Rovers in the USA.

the tcase should be fine, the 22 can be uprated with better TC's and with some of the internals from the 24..

    Scroll down on this link.

    Ashcroft Transmissions

However these are not the only differences between the 22 and the 24.
