i keep reading the threads about the maf and its probs but where is it i have come from 300tdi,stage 1 and as yet have not req the workshop manuals and dont know where it is or what it does.

All modern Diesels have them ? So is the 300 TDI a "modern Diesel" ?
The one on a TD5 , is it a Flapper , a Vane or a thin film type ?
Actually, a version of the 300tdi that didn't make it to Australia (EDC) does have the MAF, just like on a v8 (Presumably hotwire).
any engine thats electronically injected has some kind of MAF.
90% of the time its located in a dedicated housing after a short section of air trunk from the Air filter box.
its usually easy to identify as its typically free standing with a single cable leading to it.

Alas Wizard , its quite obvious hat I dont indeed know everyting , infact I have a rather large gap in my knowledge of the Landrover product after around 1995 , so much to be learnt as I get back into four wheel driving .
