    isuzu 4bd1 to ZF auto

Hi all you techheads. My question concerns the fitting of the diesel 4bd1 isuzu into a 93 classic rangie which currently has a petrol 3.9 and ZF auto.I have asked around the auto trans gurus and the consensus is that the gearbox will easily handle the power & torque of the diesel. My problem is the adaptor plate as the other matters such as engine mounts, heavier springs & possible lift should be relatively simple. The diesel is from a County which had a manual gearbox,i dont know which one.
    Hope u can help

I think JustinC will have some input on this to my understanding the ZF didnt handle it.

    I concur with Djam1.

My understanding is the power pulses of the Isuzu are what will kill the ZF, rather than outright power or torque.

Unlike the ZF, these auto boxes listed here have been proven to work with the 4BD1T.

ZF is a little auto, everything (compared to GM, ford etc..) is small and not so strong, i'd look into a t700r4 or stronger.

    RRC Diesel conversion

I have gone off the idea of putting the 4bdi in front of the Zf auto due to the adverse comments.(anyone want to buy a 4bd1)What about fitting a 300tdi up to the ZF as i believe this was a standard fit to one of the Discos. It would be an easier solution and more practical I suspect.Any feedback appreciated.Anyone got a 300tdi in the shed?Probably need the bellhousing as well to mate it up to the ZF.
    Hope u can help
