The Defender has had flat battery problems for the past few days and after topping up the water in the start battery it still wasn't charging. So we bought a new one and then I had the bright idea to check the alternator output
12.3 volts was the reading and dumb me realised that the battery wasn't the issue at all. I had a good look around AULRO, priced a new alternator on evilbay and was about to bite the bullet and buy a new 100amp one, when again I thought: "I might just have another look in the engine bay"![]()
The feed wires to the battery were badly corroded and so I cut them back, replaced the connectors and checked again.....
13.8 volts whilst charging a near flat second batteryIt pays to check these things before blindly opening the wallet it seems
