Corroded terminals make all the difference...

The Defender has had flat battery problems for the past few days and after topping up the water in the start battery it still wasn't charging. So we bought a new one and then I had the bright idea to check the alternator output

12.3 volts was the reading and dumb me realised that the battery wasn't the issue at all. I had a good look around AULRO, priced a new alternator on evilbay and was about to bite the bullet and buy a new 100amp one, when again I thought: "I might just have another look in the engine bay"

The feed wires to the battery were badly corroded and so I cut them back, replaced the connectors and checked again.....

13.8 volts whilst charging a near flat second battery It pays to check these things before blindly opening the wallet it seems
