    engine saver connection

    Hi All,
I have my engine saver and am going to connect it today. Where do I get the power source from is there a specific place that people usually connect it. In the instructions it says locate the ignition circuit, do I realy need to cut and solder it into this circuit? I know it needs to be connected to the accsesories circuit. For my uhf I used the unused sunroof power supply that was just a blank plug that I could connect power and earth to which was easy. There are some plugs under the dash on the right but I have no idea what they are for and don't want to go cutting things off. Where have people connected it??

    Help please
    Andrew

Any connector that has 12 volts on with the ignition switch. A test light or a multi meter is useful here. One place accesible is the brake light switch, work out which side is powered with the key on and connect with an adaptor terminal.

These are the only free plugs under the dash. None of them have 12 volts. So I guess I will have to find a wire that is connected to something else and run the engine saver in line with it??? Or is there another way I should do it?

Hah I see it's a Disco 1. The best place to pick up ignition is to look upwards, there is a black sleeve containing 3 heavy wires across to the top of the fuse block. Open the sleeve with a knife, strip a bit off the insulation of the white wire or the yellow wire. Join your gizmo in here, solder is best but a good wrap around and insulation tape will get you there. Fit an inline fuse to the gizmo, around 5 amp rating max. The brake switch is the other place as mentioned before, look down towards the pedal and find the switch without a rubber hose ( i.e. not the cruise switch) find the hot side, I think the brake light side is green/purple. Don't worry about the loose plugs, you won't find ignition there.

Thanks guys found a non used wire that used to be going to a brake controler which is not in the car any more, connected and working all good. The previous owner had some dodgy wiring in this car, pretty much all I have removed or fixed so its all good now. He had a dual battery wire that had bare wire exposed in the rear of the car when I bought it.
