LT230 in my RR???
Hopefully this is a quick and easy one for someone who knows theird stuff, I have a 94 Range Rover 3.9 with zf and i have put in an LT230. The number on the transfer box that is in there currently is 28D328654E which i removed from a mid 90's fire damaged discovery 3.9 auto. This box currently whines like a b***h and leaks like seive. I have another LT230 in the garage, the number on that one is 28D325549E which i don't know what it is out of, and the cdl has a problem and won't unlock. Am i correct in saying these are both E suffix boxes or am i looking at the wrong numbers.
Also, is this transfer case the best suited to the vehicle, if not what would be (ie a Q box?), and would i be better off finding another one and put that in rather than spend money rebuilding the one in the car?
Cheers, Ryan

The replacement TC is from a similar vehicle to the current TC - the prefix is the same.
( Ashcroft Transmissions )
Spend a little time and find out if the CDL is indeed stuck on the replacement box. A newer TC with the finer tooth gearset is probably about the same as a decent rebuilt of an older TC
