I recently decided to replace all of the guides & decorative bindings on my late 1960's Jarvis Walker Kilcunda surf fishing rod. It has travelled up & back the east coast from Melbourne to Cairns & return.
It raised a few enquiries some years ago when I used it beach fishing at Hartleys Creek, north of Cairns.

Getting back to the question re guides. Talk to your local independent tackle store owner. They are generally very helpful.

Dont forget to let us know how you go with it, and if your in the mood when doing it, a few pics of the rebuild.

My dad and I used to buy cane blanks and make them up, although he did the cotton work. He showed me how, but of course, as a kid, in one ear and out the other

Used Fuji on all my rods and never had a fault with them. Strong as hell and can take some abuse and not break.

As for Synder blanks. I have two Synder blank beach rods and a live bait stick and would not trade them for all the graphite rods there are.

Can't count the fish I have hauled up over the sand and rocks with them
