    bowen fishing.

staying up here for a week for my best mates wedding, there were very few days we could get out due to the wind... and wedding stuff.
but the day we did get out we hauled in so goodins.
naniguy large and small mouthed, coral trout, sweeties, parrots, motherinlaw fish, mackrel and tuna!

    trout trolling

    glouster island

    dallas and the bat

    noice trout.

    and out combined haul.

the tuna made the others look small. the tuna were boiling all the way back in so we took turns to flick some slugs into the pot, on 20lb braid no leaders only lost 3.... the largest (mine) weighed in at 8.9kg... and went like a train.

    all up good quality fun

    cheers phil

Some nice fish there and I love going out from the Bowen and Mackay area. When I have been out it has been the nicest days with dead flat seas but we didn't catch any worth while fish. Seems you cant have the best of both worlds.

The sunrise about 20nm out from Mackay

The conditions that we were blessed with all day.

The only fun fish we caught all day was this long tom that was at least 1.5m long or bigger.

Not a great picture, but with those long tendrils Id be saying its a diamond trevally
Alectis indicus, Indian threadfish: fisheries, gamefish, aquarium
    is its fishbase entry...

They are one of the fastest trevs... put up a good account when a little bigger than your mates mums'.

What did you do with all the mack "vermin" tuna??? reef bait...
