    That engine has the USA style EPA tag on the rocker cover. It might be a 12 volt US import.

    4BB1 is 3.6 Ltr. The old man has one in the shed. He was dissappointed when I told him it was not 3.9 4BD1 .

    Arn't the 4BB1's still a good donk? I've heard many say they are very happy with them (and they rev a bit more too).

    I thought they are a 3.3? 4bE1 is a 3.6. 4bb1 may just be an earlier generation.I think they were fitted to the old TLD model trucks and the 4BE1 came out with the Second generation NKR and NPR.
    I know for a fact that the 6BB1 is the same bore as a 6BD1, just shorter stroke. lots of parts are shared.
    Then, lots of parts are shared between the 4BD1 and 6BD1 so I suppose it's the same deal again with 4BD1 vs 4BB1?

    4BB1 is 3.6 litres. The 4BC2 is 3.3 litres.
    All the Isuzu 4B series are externally interchangable. If you get sick of the 4BB1, a 4BD1 or 4BG1 will bolt straight in.

    Yep, went and had a look at it today, very nice truck. Guy has owned it 15years, new pistons, liners etc 70k ago. Took it for a good 15 min drive. Steering was pretty heavy with it not being power and the extra weight of the isuzu but other than that it was spot on.
    I really need more of a daily drive otherwise I would have bought it myself!
