[QUOTE=Svengali0;2124700] 6 or 7 litre crankcase oil capacity reported so this is def shy of standard.
Normal sump capacity for a non winged sump is about 7.5 L.

I think what everyone's getting at is emissions regulations in 1996 maybe too strict for a 4BD1 engine. Which is why anyone doing an "isuzu engine swap" needs an old chassis. Anyone who tries with a 1996 chassis is told they are not allowed.

I could ask him for more detail. Clearance at front diff seems enormous. Seems reasonably clean underneath. Welds on engine mounts not easy to interpret. Interior similar to original. I suspect that the transmission hand brake cable would have been fabricated at at least one end.
Is told by whom?
Their mother? Uneducated naysayers?
There seems to be a lot of opinion and very little fact in these few posts. I have seen registered '96 Isuzu powered Landrovers before. Here's another one for sale:

Are people telling me this one can't be registered because it has an Isuzu 4BD1T motor?
If you were trying to swap a 4BD1T into a landrover you wouldn't find any engine later than about 1994 build. That is as late as they were fitted into Isuzu trucks in this part of the world.
But the manufacture of engines went on some time later. The military has a lot more purchasing power than most.
But isnt it to meet the emisions of the parent vehicle/chassis?
I would have thought a Isuzu similar output to a 200/300tdi. They are both direct injection mechanical diesels
