Those figures/temps are really difficult to get accurate on the road, just the slightest throttle or gradient will send them wildly off, I still intend to do a dyno run shortly, I know, excuses, excuses.
Hey, Brian, thanks heaps for the clutch master, and the other special kit, along with the help, and of course the terrific rum!, we made it home no worries, and without any additional issues. It was great to finally have a chat in person, thanks again.

    Cool

Yes Peter, took advantage of Brian's generosity, when my clutch master failed enroute to Rocky, you'd never expect to find a spare at short notice, but Brian had one! The added bonus was being able to chew the fat, Isuzu Landy style, and enjoy a fortifying rum, prior to continuing the journey to Cairns. All extremely pleasant.

Must say it's been great to finally meet both of you. Pleased to be able to help out Gerry. Pity we didn't have a bit more time to talk. But we will have plenty of time on the Gulf trip. Looking forward to it. Have to see if Peter came come as well.....Brian

Been reading all these threads with interest, and getting confused with all the different turbo,s.
I put a 4BD1 into a 110 which I stretched to 120 about 15 yrs ago and have toyed with the idea of a turbo. It seems I can buy a factory manifold OK.
Now there is an NPR 88 to 91 4BD1 turbo new on ebay buy it now for $450. Is this a good price?

I think you find it is an IHI or MHI knock off. It has no wastegate and you will need to verify what turbo manifold it suits.

It maybe perfectly fine even though it may not be OEM.

If you mean one of these:
ISUZU NPR DIESEL TURBO 4BD1 88-91 - eBay (item 380294433967 end time Dec-30-10 04:18:01 PST)

Then yes it's a good price, but no it's not the turbo you want.

This is the factory wastegated garrett, it is the only stock turbo worth getting:

There are a huge number of other turbos which work well, all depends on not only your goals, but your gearing.
Some of our rigs are geared for 2000rpm at 100km/h cruise, others turn almost 3000rpm. That alone will make some turbos a good bet and others useless.

So what's your rpm at cruise? I don't know the fairey ratios.

The Fairy will be eaten alive by the turboed Isuzu. .996 gears and 33" tyres will see perfect on road gearing. 2000rpm approx at 100Km/h.

I know the LT95 version Fairey overdrive is stronger than the series version, but not strong enough. You should also look at a Taper roller conversion to your transfer case. Been there, done that.. You can have 400 to 450Nm of torque quite easily at your disposal when turboing these engines.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
