    LT95 is my isuzu killing it ..

    Like the heading says as my gearbox has developed a bearing noise .

    It started about 3 weeks back and has gotten worse to the point now were it can easly be heard over the engin noise when it started it was very faint and has got to the point were it is now and hasent changed .

    The noise islike a bearing whine it is only there under load and only in first ,second and third once i hit fourth its fine not a sound but in the other 3 its there while the power is on soon as i lift the foot and coast its gone .

    Ive changed the oil in both box and transfer and no change what i would like to know if possable is will this kill the box i have a few spares but im not able to do a swap till about august .

    Has anybody else had similar probs with there LT95 and how long did they continue driving it as to me it seems fine tho i would like to know what bearing would be causing the problem and as far as i can tell it should not have happened as the box had good oil and i dont flog it.

    Big Repairs??

    If it was my vehicle I be inclined to stop using it until the faulty bearing was replaced, a bearing that collapse can cause much more damage to the box. Any gear box rebuild is not cheap even if you can do it yourself .
    My mate who is a L/R mechanic will not use Japanese bearings in a L/R box especially if it has a Holden engine as they dont tend to handle the extra power as well as Timkim bearings, We have a Ser3 g/box on the bench that requires big dollars spent on it due to a collapsed jap bearing and incorrect assembly by the last repair

    yes the suzi is killing your box.

    most likely the front layshaft bearing is gone but it could also be the input shaft bearing.

    as per this thread for an lt85

    I would also investigate it asap. Unfortunately for you it means a box out job but better to fix it now with a simple bearing replacement than probably layshaft and gears as well if you continue using it. As Dave said most likely layshaft bearings but you would be mad not to overhaul the lot while it is out. Timken bearings for the layshaft are definitely advisable (LM48548/10) and RHP (MJ 1 1/2) if you can find them for the mainshaft. Otherswise RMS12 in a quality bearing.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    As I said in my other post we have a ser 3 box on the bench awaiting the owner decision as to what he going to do It will be a Major rebuild after a previous rebuild with only a small distance covered since the last rebuild about 10,000 ks . We put the problem down to
    a. cheap bearings used
    b. lack of correct torque setting in several parts some were too tight while others were not anywhere near their required settings
    c. Fitted to a Holden engine from memory a 202
    d.Lack of knowledge by the previous assembler in relation tolerance's / spacing between parts etc.
