yup, 600 x 300 front mount, best one money will buy at under $200!! it tows heavy loads relatively beautifully at the moment (for a sub $4k 4wd, purchased for $1k) , towed 3T plus trailer 600 odd k's home and couldn't get pyro (pre turbo) over about 700 no matter how hard and long i punished it on the hills (on 35's), and will semi regularly tow over 4t in my dual axle trailer from suppliers to jobs with my landscape materials, e.g. 2.5m3 + roadbase, gravels, etc (sometimes sloppy wet) plus 900kg trailer and be quite happy with it (bar wanting a brake uprgade), so atm as i don't have much spare time or cash i am very happy with the choice i have gone with, i believe there is definitely more to be had from the set up i have, and as time and cash become available i will pursue it.

if i wasn't embarking on a land rover truggy build, i would've had the 'baboon' (my county) tuned, probably meth injected and breathing fire by now, but it has to take its place behind the donkey build (truggy), turtle (cooks D2), until i sell the wombat (my 90) to fund these out of hand projects

Here in Vic, I'm pretty sure you're allowed visible smoke on accelleration, but no more than 10secs continuous.
Yours looks pretty good to me. My IC is still sitting in the shed, so I can't cope with that much fuel. As it is I can hit 700deg pre turbo pretty easily towing.

Yeah here in nsw its a "stab test" and visible smoke needs to be gone by either 5 or 10secs cannot remember exactly...bit stupid if you ask me!!!
I'm 99.99% certain that I will get temps down and smoke level lower with the addition of a more efficient system which I am doing now touch wood ...
Steve I forget what turbo you are running sorry ? Happy with its performance Im guessing ?

Current turbo is a Garrett T25G. $90 to buy off ebay and another $150 odd for new turbine shaft and rebuild kit which I fitted myself.

Definitely doesn't pull as solidly right through the rev range as Rovercare's intercooled VNT, but simple/cheap and goes good enough for me.
Will be nice to get the IC fitted and run a bit more boost/fuel and hopefully get the EGT's down a bit though.

    Yeah but smoke gets embarassing.
Look at advancing the timing a little to clear up a lot of the grey smoke, this will leave you with a little black.

Also it should be possible to re-profile the cam (aka fuel plate) in the injection pump governor to reduce fuelling at low rpm. Working on the idea that you won't be driving at 2000m altitude very often so boost based on rpm and full load won't change too much.
I haven't tried this (because I have a boost compensator on my pump) but I think John has looked into it. Finding the fuel plate from a 4BD1T pump without the boost compensator and copying it would be a good start. I have one here which I could open up (spare pump) if you are serious about it.
