What engine have you got? Mine is td5 and it gets up to 750 all the time. I dont hold it there though. Just to creep over a hill or overtake.
My probe is post turbo.
Ive reached just over 600 going up the Toowoomba range towing a trailer. It did start to smell like it was melting. I dropped back the gearing and all was forgiven. It performed perfectly for the remainder of the 3 week trip (5000km).
I was running a manual boost controller and an over boost valve which released at about 14psi.
I have since removed the valve, the boost controller and disconnected the wastegate. It now runs better with EGTs about 80 degrees less and boost goes up to about 22psi.

I'm running mine upto 750C...cant get any more fuel in though, fuel screw is sitting between the front seats![]()
My Isuzu WS manual says max 750oC pre turbo for the 4BD1T. It has piston oil sprays though.
I did the whole Nullarbor into an extreme headwind sitting on 600-700(+) with no problems.
Generally 750C peak and a little lower sustained. Put your own safety factor in there if you like.
I've seen 900C many times during inattention. My engine seems to survive fine but I wouldn't pull those temps intentionally.
