    v8 radiator to 4bd1?

The radiator in the old girl is looking real ratty and wouldn't mind replacing. didn't help when i gave the horn a knock to try to get it working and put a hole in it. I see a new radiator for sale suitable for a county/defender v8. Apart from inlet/outlet positions are they the same radiator? maybe change the tanks over?
    Is there another option?
    cheers.

    ha mate

I had a new v8 rad in my county, I then pulled that engine out and fitted a Isuzu and the donor vehicles rad was cactus so I had the v8 one modified to suit the plumbing for the Isuzu. There was no problems with it.

Apart from different inlet/outlet positions, the radiators are basically identical and its just a matter of sweating the tanks off and changing them over. If it's a new V8 radiator you are looking at make sure that it doesn't have plastic tanks as this type has clamped tanks which makes it unsuitable for swapping the Isuzu tanks. Natra made the original ones and I think they are still available (at premium cost as usual)

If you are looking at the ebay ones from Classic Land Rover, then the inlet and outlet are brazed into the tanks, and require the tanks to be removed to relocate the pipes. Found that out the hard way when I did my Isuzu conversion.
EDIT: Slightly less work if you were going to just swap the tanks from your old one
My local radiator place could have recored my old one cheaper than buying one of the ebay ones and paying to have the pipes swappped over (around $400 from memory). That was using a modern style core with the zig-zag fins between the tubes like the ebay ones. For a heavy duty old-style core with the tubes going through the fins it was going to be around $800.

When I converted from V8 to Isuzu I used the same radiator from the V8. I just had the top and bottom inlet/outlet pipes swapped over. I think they were soldered in so it was a pretty easy job for the Rad Bloke, cost $45.

the radiator i just put in my county i'm sure was a V8 classic rangie one and all the plumbing was the same, only difference was it was about 15mm wider so i had to massage the inner fenders to fit it in.

IRC the rangie rad isn't as deep as the 110 rad.

I got my rad re-cored over in Perth. There is more to the isuzu rad than just different pipes, it's thicker. Must be OK to use the V8 rad, plenty of people on here are using them...

The isuzu is usually 4-5 cores. However V8 rads are available with the same number of cores.

thanx for replys, got natrad cairns trying to source one for me, no price yet, anyone got the part number?
Bit of a problem getting fiddly work like modifying radiators professionaly done localy. Ripped the tail pipe of the old girl and no one up here could/would bend up a piece of pipe for it. Ended up getting something similar and modifying it myself, stick welding exhaust is hours of entertainment.
