    Isuzu sumps

    Hello isuzuers
I have a slight problem whilst try to fit my 3" mandrel exhaust to the 110 as most already know the problem is where I am trying to fit it out the little gap between engine mount and corner of the sump so what I was thinking was putting a standard sump on the engine rather than the winged sump!
I am aware that this will reduce oil capacity but I was planning on running an oil cooler and incorporate the extra oil needed in the cooler circuit.
Doing this will make life alot easier when changing turbo's hence having to modify dump pipes so this will hopefully give more room down that side of the motor I hope what's everyones thoughts on my plans? And where do I start looking for one of these sumps? Any input on ideas is also welcomed

I would have thought everyone that runs a turbo would run a wingless sump. If its good enough for trucks, i'm sure it'll be fine

What Vern said. Plus your engine already has an oil cooler, it's down the side of the block behind the injection pump and dumps heat to the coolant.

In assume others like Isuzurover retained their winged sump with a 3" exhaust - but maybe your turbo is in a different position.

The main reason I replied (because I can't answer you questions) is to point out that your engine allready has a perfectly good oil cooler - I wouldn't be adding another.

Yes, you are correct John. However some others (like Offender90 and Rovercare) swapped to the non-winged sump.

This is probably the best image I have of how the exhaust runs. It squeezes through between the gearbox bellhousing and the firewall. It does not run between the sump and chassis.

Thanks for the response guys much appreciated bush65 you are correct in saying turbo position is different....my turbine housing is at the back of the motor (firewall end) and the exhaust dump flange faces down at the top of the starter motor I used to have it tucked as close as possible to the outrigger and follow the original exhaust route but once larger tyres were fitted the 3" is just to big so the only spot I could find was the space down between the engine mount , starter motor and sump....
I shal have another look to see if I can do the same as you did isuzurover but didnt you have to trim the arch or am I mistaken for someone else ? Any other photos that people have would be great

    No trimming needed.

The exhaust fitter did squash/oval the pipe slightly IRC where it passes the tightest spot. However I think only by 5 mm or so.

Yes - 3" / 76.2 mm - and it was probably slightly less than that anyway.

true! Whilst looking at your photo I have 2 questions... 1.what size exhaust housing A.R is yours? And 2.see your dump pipe is that a purchasable item or did you have it made ?
