    Transfer ratio change, Lt95, what's involved ?

When I did my Isuzu conversion I just went with the transfer gears I already had with the V8, 1.113. Although everything is ok with this ratio, I've decided I'd really like to change to the standard Isuzu gearing in the transfer, 0.996 ?, to drop the RPM.
I believe the gears can be changed without removing the box from the car, is this correct ? If someone can give me a basic explanation of the procedure I'd really appreciate it. I would be doing it myself.
I haven't actually got the gears yet, so if anyone knows of some that might be available please let me know. Tapered gears would obviously be best, but not essential.
We tend to do a lot more touring type trips now, so the standard gears would be an advantage for this sort of driving.

    Cheers, Murray

If you've got a tapered roller intermediate shaft then all thats required is to fit that then install the new high range gear on the center diff.
If its a normal shaft then you'd also need the intermediate gear to match.
Easy enough to do with the gearbox in the vehicle.

My center diff gear I got new from LRSeries in the UK, and I got the TRB intermediate used locally.

I've still got my spare LT95 in pieces if you want to drop round and have a look at how it all fits together. It cant be rocket science as I managed to do it

It's easy, can do in the car, it's quite fiddly with standard shim set up, easy with taper roller

I'm thinking of off loading some of my Isuzu stuff, just so happens I have a taper roller gearset laying around

    G'day Steve,
Just to clarify, if TRB's are to be fitted, do I need a different intermediate shaft ?

    G'day Matt,
If you get past the stage of thinking of off loading them, can you let me know what condition they're in, what they're worth etc.

Yes you do. Its a whole different assembly and has a long bolt through the middle to hold the lot together. Different spacers, gears machined to take the roller bearings etc etc.
