120" 10 inches crudely jammed in the middle, also with infills that cause rust!
Get the turbo refurbed and crank the fuel it'll love it, that external wastegate, where the raw diesel soot is, looks to be missing a bolt
Although they're not plentiful, there's probably more 120's hiding in other member's back yards than we think. I have an '85. It's been sitting for about a year, but I chucked a battery in it the other day and it started instantly.....typical Isuzu

cheers for all the info.
I assumed that the turbo attatched is dead, will hook up the oil lines and just see if it spins up anyway, but will probably replace it with a newer one.
anyone used one off a tdi300? i have one but not sure what condition its in. (picked it up off a crashed defer) would it work being off a smaller engine?
i do love how easily it startsIt's been sitting for about a year, but I chucked a battery in it the other day and it started instantly.....typical Isuzu![]()
what transfer would be in it? LT230? would it be possible to chuck disco high range gears in it? we have this set up in our 90 td5. Just because i do alot of hwy kms, would be nicer to have a better cruising speed, or will this be alright standard sitting on 100-110 for a fair chunk of its useage?
cheers
(sorry if these are noob questions)
The 300Tdi turbo is too small.
You should have 1.003:1 high range gears in your LT230. These are significantly taller than the 1.2:1 gears fitted to a disco. It will cruise well as-is, and disco gears would make it rev higher at the same speed.
Can I suggest searching and reading the many threads on here - or downloading a copy of the owner's manual and having a read.
300 tdi turbo housing is built into exhaust manifold. I don't think it would be worth trying to adapt it.
So had a free day the other day and had a closer look at the Wolf.
a few problems.
mainly the airfilter element that was in use was a foam filter and much smaller than standard, and was so clogged with soot that it had started to collapse !
then the other main problem was the turbo. i had hooked up the oil feed, and taken the inlet pipe off and it spun by hand well and had no slop in it, so cant be too bad. the main problem was the fact that the turbo was fastened to the manifold by 1 stud not 4! so took the manifold off and welded new ones in. not possible to tap them in. Now it spools up well, and doesnt blow much smoke at all, and a huge power increase. great success.
Also today a mate dropped his 110 96 300tdi which had been rolled to see if i could use the firewall. it is pretty much rust free and pretty straight from what i can see. apart from the top where the windscreen bent it in the roll over.
just wondering how easily this could be fixed. i would say it will be easier to take it to a panel shop. or would it be cheaper to find a straight one? i know panel beaters can be pricey.
cheers
Tangus
That air filter is the safety element, it should have a larger filter also
Wouldn't bother with that firewall, to much work!
so i had a big shed clean out/rearrange after christmas and have managed to fit the vintage cars and the 120 in the shed, with enough room to work around them all. so yesterday i started pulling the Wolf to bits, to get to the firewall. very dirty.
a bit of rust in the front right of chassis, should be able to cut and weld a new bit in.
once the firewall is out i will be doing lots of cleaning, and more searching for a second hand firewall, and possibly 2 doors.
cheers
My chassis is rusted in the same spot but not as bad as yours.
Funny it is only that side
