Surely that's as much an oxymoron as "cheap Porsche" or "military intelligence"? (Sorry any ex-mil or serving members but you know to whom I'm referring.)
4BD1T, Tee Ron, Tee for TURBOCHARGED, that clever little hairdryer that when wound up will produce enough boost to generate enough torque to make a V8 drivers nose bleed (and not just from the vibe at idle )

Yep, I have driven them. Actually, I've only ever driven turbocharged ones (all in Range Rovers). Torquey beggars.

Here are your OD and wall thickness for the various grades of pipe for the two that you would consider. Problem is that as the pipe diam gets bigger so does the radius of your elbows.

    40 NB Extra Light Wall 48.3 x 2.3
    40 NB Light Wall 48.3 x 2.9
    40 NB Medium Wall 48.3 x 3.2
    40 NB Heavy Wall 48.3 x 4.0
    40 NB Extra Heavy Wall 48.3 x 5.4
    50 NB Extra Light Wall 60.3 x 2.3
    50 NB Light Wall 60.3 x 2.9
    50 NB Medium Wall 60.3 x 3.6
    50 NB Heavy Wall 60.3 x 4.5
    50 NB Extra Heavy Wall 60.3 x 5.4

I only started this so that we can gather information on what can be done to these motors for those who wish to push them and see what there potential is... My poorly setup and designed system I was running before I had turbo failure was stupid to drive and deffinately can be improved on...

Rovercare Now I feel inadequate Not really , my NA could do with a turbo , yes , but it seems the pump has been wound out a few turns and the D Gas injection definately makes a difference. We sat on 70mph all the way form Dargo to Melb with 1.5 tonne of loaded camper on the back
Hills do bother it and drag it back to 50mph and so a turbo would help.

Chief. Did you see rijidij post on getting a 75mm stainless snorkel made up for around $ 200?

Do you run an EGT gauge?
Geared for 2000rpm cruise, my rangie with no boost (i.e. wastegate popped open, boost guage on the stop) runs about 650C at 100km/h on a flat road.

Sounds like it goes ok without a turbo however with a turbo its a different animal as you would imagine...i have not found a hill yet that will slow it down if not anything I gain speed and going beside a td5 disco that thought he would see what the old jigger would do let's say the poor bloke would have been better off pushing it up the hill ok that's my story time over haha
Yeah the snorkel turned out good and I may have to do it soon as I have some 3" stainless laying around even though I was tempted to make a 4" one and make a new air box with 4" outlets as my turbo has a 4" inlet.
Or just buy a safari as I recon they look shmick also.

Dougal . Not yet but it is in the plans. With the pump turned up a few screws and the D gas , I think it may run hotter than a standard NA Isuzu( I will defer to our resident gas expert though ) and an EGT would be a good safeguard. The cabin certainly got very hot on the way back from Dargo. That is why it is curently off for some ceramic coating to the exhaust manifold and heat wrap.

CHIEF. A turbo is planned subject to funds

    But once you've had boost....

Mine will do 70mph with 3.5 ton worth of trailer and car and the hills don't bother it
