My records show a 390mm flywheel, so that's probably the same as your 388.
Have you looked at what the flywheel touches in the 4BA1 housing and what would need ground out for the 388mm flywheel to fit?

So far no good with the flywheel developments as I can't seem to find anywhere to balance it  so I have not proceeded with the ring as of yet...I'm not sure if there is any accurate way of balancing it myself or I would have it done by now...
We used a performance motor builder up here for balancing, BUT he wants us to get him a complete crankshaft for future balancing jobs as it will make it easier for him to use this as a jig.
So has anyone got an old 3.9 or 3.6 etc crank laying around???? Then we have a source for balancing.

When I lived down you way and wanted good engine work done I would only take it to a place in Islington/Hamilton whose name escapes me.
Driving from Newcastle toward Islington, they are on the left near the plumbing place, just before the Beaumont Street traffic lights.
They balanced my 4BD1T.
I had one engineering place hesitate and say yes we will do it but when I asked how they will do it they couldn't give me a satisfactory answer... Only option I am still thinking about is doing it between centers
Would it be teterin engineering ?
Have a read here - I am sure gromit could answer some questions.
