It was up in Tamworth at ReTorque and it wasn't a problem and was cheap.
They were facing the flywheel anyway for my clutch change.
I used to have my race engine machining done in Sydney (Castle Hill) at KC's Machine Shop in I think Carrington Rd ?
I'm guessing Kev has retired now, (his son may have taken over ?) but I can ask my mate down there that is still building cars/engines, etc where he's getting his stuff done now, it just might be a couple of days as he may have been at Sandown this weekend.

Ok the shift kit came for the box which I must say is a master piece and saves me a lot of work...however seeing as though I'm making it fit a 6speed there needed to be slight mods done to the kit...
First was to machine up spacers to fit under the base plates 8mm for the rear and 4mm for the front as the centre part of the casing seemed to be risen to much making the plates sit un-even...I then needed to do some filing to allow some arms from fouling on parts of the casing....I then found that my gearbox has an extra bolt holding the top cover on which prevented the pivot bolt to come through so I needed to machine a nut down to fit in the space that was provided by using the spacers but unfortunately will not be able to bolt the case down in that spot any more...in the end it is all shifting fine and I am extremely happy with it :D

I got a new throw out bearing and pressed it onto its housing thingy as mine is a reusable type (bearing number NSK78TKC5401) .
I ordered a clutch disc from JCS which was at my place over night :o
A 4bd1 flywheel housing is now bolted on and ready for the mxa once I sort out the flywheel dilemma...
Nice work. More pics of the shift kit and mods when you can please. Along with how it feels with the 6 speed.
I heard back from the outfit in Canada that supplied my starter, they don't know of any 12v version with similar power. The toyota/Denso 12v starters that others are using here are probably the only easy to source option.
I just got off the phone with a truck wrecker here. They had a MXA-6R fitted to a 4BD2, but since sold for $NZ1650. The 4H versions are a little cheaper and more common.

Nah have not sorted the rear out yet :( that will be the next thing to do then everything will be slotted back in...as soon as I dismantle the lt230 from the lt85 I'll start to measure things up and see what nightmares I have in stal...Quote:

This is the lever that needs a slight notch taken out so that the lever doesn't keep resting against the top selector case on the box (the internal function in the box may have been operated with the lever touching but I like to see a visible break between the case and arm so that I know the internal function is on its limit)

The feel is great feels nice and direct...the throw isn't much (going up and down gears it seems short and sweet) but being 6speed it does have a large sideways throw (position of stick from 6-1) the obvious problem of the gears being back to front is there but that does not bother me...
So the mxa's are hard to find over there also then? Shame it was sold as we both could be in this situation at the same time :D thanks for asking about starters any links to reasonably priced starters of the type mentioned ?
