You can push a 4BD1T to 500Nm just by turning screws (20psi boost, EGT to suit).

Yeah they seem to be a fairly rare engine over here actually...

I am aiming for well over 500Nm

Started getting prices together for rebuilding the motor...best place so far has gave me the prices for individual items as there was 2 kits they offered 1. $2000 (Japan pistons) 2. $1750 (Taiwanese pistons) so seeing as though I may not need a full kit as pistons may be fine I asked for individual prices...

$95 per sleeve
$47 big end bearing set
$5ea little end bearings
$85 MLS head gasket
$17 cam bearing set
$70 rings per cylinder

I am looking for places that will make me a custom head gasket but no luck finding anywhere that will make one :(
Also priced head studs at a cost of ~ $1300 :eek: that doesn't seem quite right ?

Good question..I thought I would see if it was a feasible option and if it it worked out that it wasn't ridiculously expensive I would prefer to spend the extra and have something that is overkill...however having said that the MLS oem gasket is a very nicely made gasket by the looks of it...I just do not want to be replacing the gasket all the time once running over 30psi

I'd trust the factory gasket over every aftermarket item you can find. If you want more boost capacity (30psi shouldn't be a problem for stock), then get head studs and increase the torque on them. John has the numbers for 4BD1T parts, 4BG1T should be similar.

I done a bit more searching just then and found the part numbers and gave Fabre a call they said around $1000 for studs assuming there the same as the 4BD1t...the more I look at the oem gasket the more inclined to stick with it I am :angel:

Those $$$$ seem awefully high :o

I can't put my hand on my reciepts - sorry. The exchange rate was nowhere near as good when I bought my ARP studs. BTW they were stock parts not special.
