If I get the work trip to the UK later in the year (fingers crossed) I'll bring back a set of 235/85 or 7.50/16's to put on one of my three other sets of wheels. I had a full set of SAT retreads, but one died of old age last winter. 4x4 tyres are dirt cheap over there. Compared to here anyway.

Butchered, nah. Isuzus were a little known factory fitted option.

At the moment there is still nothing external which says it's not a gutless 3.5 V8. But when I put an intercooler behind that open grille, the game is over.

Would 94 have the scoop in the bonnet still ?
I'm not sure if the rangies came out with positive offset or 0 but as Ben said would be worth giving some more offset a shot ...just think if you go bigger tyres your gunna have to hurry up and fit exhaust and intercooler to try and pick your performance back up to where you have it
Out of curiosity what year model rangies first came out with vented front brakes ?

That's not what I was saying. I think you need less offset to avoid hitting the guards. I have been told that 7.50s on series / 110 rims will fit a stock RRC.

Dougal - so you can't just ship from tirerack in the US like people do here? There must be better options than SATs...

But we should stop hijacking busman's thread...

Yeah we should stop hijacking. One last post.

Cheif, that scoop is the factory heater intake, that shape was kept until 94/95 when the P38's were released. If I go for a different wheel offset then I have 4 sets of wheels I can't use. The 29's disappear right up into the rear gaurds to the rim level at present, so I can't shift stuff outwards for offset without cutting/rolling gaurds. But ground clearance isn't usually a problem. If I go bigger tyres, then I'll need better axles and stronger diff centres. Right now I can spin 29's without breakage. I'm on disco 24 splines, 1:1 LT230R and 5 speed MSA-5G.

SAT's are great digging tyres, they self clean like tractor tyres and you can just idle through mud and snow melt slush. Modern mud tyres with more horizontal lugs rely on rpm to clean them. The reason I would get some from the UK (if I get there) is I would have a sea-freight container coming back to put them in. I'd find some other rover parts to fill space too.

Forgot to mention, the 4BE1 will be supercharged
Just have to work out pulley ratio.
Using S14 Vortec out of Toyota MR2, with Intercooler.
Bit of work to set up, to include adjuster mounting bracket etc etc.
The s14 is clutch engaged, so flick of a switch.
Yes, many say why a supercharger and not a Turbo.
Costs alot cheaper, boost is on tap and original set-up.

Car will be featured in Modified 4wd Magazine issue 27. August l think.
    Cheers Dave

With the ratio at the moment, way to high at 35psi
Looking at around 8-10, but really need to do some research.
Along with some trial to see what works best, without stuffing the engine of course.
    Turbos average up to 15psi.
Have to take into consideration the 4.56 diff reduction and 35 & 37 tyres.
I will certainly keep everyone posted as to the progress.
    Cheers Dave

No reason it cannot handle 35 psi long term (assuming as strong as a 4BD1)

    Stock 4BD1T is ~17 psi.

I have been running ~21 psi for ages without problems (as have others), and haven't yet gotten around to installing an intercooler.

8-10 psi is a waste of time IMHO.

I wish you luck, but personally think that turbocharging is a much better option for diesels.
