Nothing from Rakeway to me either. You won't need to do the 300mm flywheel with the MXA box. As far as I know the MSA box I have has the same input shaft as your MXA, I run a 275mm fine. There won't be enough room for this style inertia ring with a 300mm clutch as the pressure plate uses pretty much all of the flywheel surface.

Pressure plate measurements:
Outside Diameter: 340mm
Thickness (flywheel face to rear of assy): 59mm

That's even better. It means the outer ring can be roughly 25mm thick which means it would add a hair over 80% of the original flywheels inertia.

Have you put the design into CAD yet ? What do you recon is the best way to fit it to the flywheel would be? weld (if so stitch weld or full weld) or bolt ?

I haven't done any work on attaching it. But the plan is a ring of bolts (recessed cap screws) with some method of locating it precisely (dowels etc) to allow removal and refit.
It will need balanced also.

The pictures you see above are in CAD (solidworks) but everything needs physically checked before I would commit to getting anything made.

Mmmm I I was thinking along those lines (cap screws) as for balancing I'm wondering if I could balance it myself between centers ? I'm not 100% up on it but I'm sure my old boy done his bottom end on his motorbike he is making with a 2 centre jig contraption and dial indicator (not that the dial indicator would be usefull in balancing our flywheel)

Also when you mentioned about the clutch fitting the mxa box exedy only told me about the 300mm one nothing about 275mm to suit the mxa :(

Your gearbox doesn't know or care how big the clutch is, it only cares that the clutch disc fits the splines. I'm pretty sure your MXA input spline is the same as my later MSA-5G spline and there is a factory 275mm clutch disc that fits that.

Auh that is true I was thinking I would have to find a clutch plate based on spline count/dia I'm getting ballzed up with a few things ATM with all these projects :angel:

Here is an as-built of my current MSA-LT230 adapter. Included in this picture are the original MSA output flange and the Rakeway style LT230 input shaft with a rover diff drive-flange. Plenty of space between them for an adapter block, I would have to bore out the original LT77 rear housing (shown yellow) or simply find a better way to attach it.

Dougal, can I take it from the above pic, that your existing MSA to LT230 adaptor doesn't have the nut on the end of the MSA mainshaft and has no problem with the mainshaft moving forward?
