holy moly that is massive! are you going to have to mod the bonnet to fit?

This is getting ridiculous.

This may have been covered and I missed it but how do you find the NVH levels?
Do you reckon the benefits of running Isuzu 5 speed outweigh the fiddle to fit it, compared to running an LT95 say?
Getting ideas![]()
The NVH is very good for what it is. At idle it's the same as the 300tdi I have here. I can't yet compare road speed as the 300tdi isn't road-legal and has some other issues to work through.
It's quiet enough that I can hear the tyres over the engine at 100km/h. I have a reasonable amount of sound-proofing but it's old and with plenty of gaps. Turbo whistle dominates at higher load.
I do have some transferbox noise which I suspect is the input bearings and is most noticable in 4th at ~70km/h and a vibration at ~65km/h in all gears which I know is the transfer intermediate shaft (roller bearing version, thrusts are worn).
None of that is the engine though. I've never driven a vehicle with the LT95. Those I've ridden in were long enough ago that I can't recall the noise.
The gear spread in the Isuzu 5 speed means it is used as a four speed plus creeper. I would very much like to install the Isuzu MXA 6 speed gearbox. But it's a major project with no immediate plans.
Cheers.
Trying to weigh up the pros and cons.
Main thing that occurred to me was if I get a truck wreck I can score the box and donk in one, but at this stage running the LT95 looks simpler.
I'm not expecting it to be silky smooth and whisper quiet but 300tdi levels I can live with![]()
