I was thinking the air would heat up by the hose going over the engine like that. If you ran a drivers side intake the air would be cooler and you'd get better power.

Good idea !! Need to get my act together and sort that out.
This was the set up, when l originally bought the car.
I went on a GCLRO Club trip recently to Emu Creek, and l drove at night.
It was a very cold evening, and what an amazing difference with some cool air.
I had to back off on steep mountains
