A tower that uses both the steering box mounting holes and those in top of the spring perch would be better IMHO.

Yes, that is what I meant to describe.

OT if you look at the top of the coil spring in that pic you can see an example of the retainer spring (for want of a better decription/name) that was first (to my knowledge) bought out by Safari Gard in the USA who were also first with bolt on 3-link front suspension for Land Rovers. IMHO these are better than dislocating springs for those who want long travel.

Not a pic of the rangie, but some of Halley's Defender fitted with the shockie mounts from one. From this thread.

    Looks like a dud!!!

    Ok
while you lot go on about shock towers just a quick one to let you know the compound set up looks like a dud. I had my doubts about the LP turbo and it seems the HP turbo just cannot get enough air. I may play around with it but I think its a waste of time. Surprisingly I'm not really ****ed off. I have always wanted to use the Turbo's I had sitting in the shed so at least I gave it a crack.

Might sell these off and just use the Garret that The109 is using (4BD2) from memory.Although I may look into a good LP unit to go with the Garrett. Any suggestions anyone????????

    Justin,

There is a science behind making these things work, usually backed with big hours of design, testing and more importantly dollars.
At least you had a go and tried it.
I think the VNT route will work well once sorted, for something proven and simple to just "bolt on" you could use the same turbo as mine.

Yep thinking that way. Yep totally understand the science behind it but as you say got to have a go. As Chief said the cold side on the Schwitzer is too small and is starving the Garrett. May try and jag a S/h turbo somewhere with better specs. I just want to see if I can make it work ok.

    No rush

Definately true mate. But had to give it a bash. Might get my head around the figures and see what I can come up with. Just like trying something different
