Both, 105 is on the governor I think, I didn't get it that high, but my mate did. Trying to hold 90ish along some undulating roads, the slightest of rises with foot to the floor and she came back to 80 and stayed there.
80 is the sweet spot, changing gearing/tyre size could lift the sweet spot to somewhere better for touring. Go too far and 1st won't get it moving!

Before reading this thread and getting ideas planted in my head, I was planning 4bd1-t, with BorgWarner turbo and intercooled.
The 6BD1 and 4BD1 are essentially the same block just with 2 cylinders more or less. So yes it will bolt in, but you will need to use a Landrover flywheel and engine bellhousing. The 4BD1s fitted to landies had a custom engine bellhousing and flywheel.Quote:

Well with your 33's, and a Turbo and tune, I'd try the 3.54's first before you lash out on 4.11's. After driving these with 3.54, 35's, and an lt95, they still feel like they fifth gear, even when towing.
Damien, a cab chassis Perentie sixby tares almost as much (2500kg) as your Rangie's gross weight, a full body camper is going to be a fair bit more weight to get moving, particularly in off-road situations, which could well be the reason the army 6x6s have 4.7 diffs, they'd likely have kept 3.54s to standardise with the 4x4s if they could.
I'd try it with the 4.7s fitted long before trying 4.11s or 3.54s.
Any army 6x6 drivers here that can give their observations?
Yeah OK, well if its got 4.7 in it now, leave it and see how it goes. Forgot about the weight factor.
Does anyone know the length of the 6bd1, bell housing mating face to front of fan, and how this compares to a 4bd1? I was read something that says the 6 is 9" longer, but trying to confirm. There seems to be quite a bit of space to go forward, and the suspension looks like it will up to the job of carrying the extra weight.

I think it will be more than 9" as it has 2 more pots the same size as the 4B. The dimensions of them alone is more than 9".
