This is where I initially saw this. Couple of other things I have seen back it up, including cummins 4bt and 6bt info (which there seems to be more of).
Given that the bore is 4", it seems about right and would give 1/2" wall thickness.

Would the 35.2 and 44.6 quoted be from the back of the block or flywheel housing? And to the front of the block or would it include the fan? On the 4bd1, how much clearance is there between the front of the block and the front cross member?

I'll do a measure up and post the measurement later.

4BD1T has ~118mm cylinder spacing. So at a minimum it'll be ~236mm longer.

Measurement from front of harmonic balancer to front crossmember is 125mm.

The 4BD1 is mounted further forward than it needs to be. I measured up my IIA and a 4BD1 would fit without moving the grill forward. I think if you were gooing to go down the 6BD1 path it would make sense to move the engine and box back.

Firewall/tunnel mods would be needed though.

And still be wishing you had a #5 on your gear nob :D

Another option here is to use the truck gearbox that matches the chosen Isuzu or Cummins engine as they are usually 'shorter and fatter', and designed to take the torque. This can then be grafted to an LT230 transfer case... as pictured behind a ZF 5 speed which had Cummins 6bt on its nose..... All of which ended up in a Ninety!!

Thanks for that, do you have a measurement with regards to the bellhousing? I know this is harder to get to but my chassis the custom gal box section from JLA so I am not sure my front cross member is in the same place.

I dont think I am game for that. I will have a look how much modification would be needed but this could lead to needing 3 new prop shafts too. Would much prefer to extend the grill similar to the AC TD5 to fit the extra lenght, it comes down to space between the bellhousing and from cross member, and if this is enough room to clear the front face of the block

I want to retain the LT95 primarily as it has the take off for the 6x6 unit. I have seen from another member on here that it is possible to mate the LT95 transfer case to an isuzu MSA box but again, this for me, falls into the 'too hard' bucket.
