    Which Turbo Manifold

    Apologies for all the separate threads.

    I've been on the phone to the Isuzu parts suppliers here, looking for an exhaust manifold, and as I've just found out from the parts list sticky at the top of the page, there are two variations of the manifold:

    1984-1987 non-watercooled manifold part no. 8-94119292-6
    1988 onward water cooled turbo manifold part no. 8-94366247-0

    What, if any difference is there between the two? I've been quoted $245 + GST for the air cooled, and $321 + GST for the water cooled. I would have assumed that the mating surface for the engine would be the same, and the turbo mating surface would be down to the choice of turbo used.....

    Or conversely, how do I tell what year my engine is, if I need to match the correct manifold to it?

    Those prices are reasonable...You are correct in saying engine mounting surfaces are the same yes however the orientation of the turbo side of the manifold differs between some as per following pictures...






    I have both and by looking at both I'd prefer the second option mainly due to space reasons...it has been that long since I've played with anything landrover I cannot remember the difference of flanges but Dougal has it tattooed on his eyelids so just wait for him to chime in

    84-87 the stock turbo was an IHI, the manifold is similar to the one Cheif posted, but it has a split port and doesn't have a standard bolt pattern. It's close to T2/T25 but it's not. You need to slot the bolt holes on a T2/t25/T28 turbo to make it fit.

    88 onwards is the compact manifold with the T3 flange that is angled. Cheifs lower pic.

    There is a T25 manifold which Cheif has posted top. I believe these are an industrial manifold (4BG1T etc) and wasn't used on any road going engines. But it's a straight bolt up if you want to mount a T25 based turbo on top. Visually it has a single large oval port. The IHI version is split port.

    These manifolds will all bolt to any Isuzu 4B engine head. They are not flippable.
