Think my elbow/reducer is 4mm and is pretty rigid. Putting my hand over the air filter inlet will make it suck in a bit, but it doesn't collapse completely. Something would have to be very wrong to get that sort of blockage in service.
BTW - if you can figure out the P/N's for those manifold studs would be very useful. Trying to track down the numbers got too hard for me and I just fitted allen head bolts.
Edit: I also used decent T-clamps, even pre-turbo. Figured a couple of extra dollars compared to normal hose clamps was a lot cheaper than a dusted engine. Post turbo I didn't even consider normal hose clamps.
