If you run it factory plumbed, I'd suggest putting a big uphill section of piping from provent to turbo inlet. This will keep the oil draining down and hopefully limit the amount of oil fed straight into your engine.

Mine is now reversed so the lower hose is the inlet and all the oil stays down low. The flow to the turbo is both uphill and filtered by the internal strainer. This way it works as a seperator and can't feed oil to the intake, but it's the complete opposite to design.
Oil shouldn't be getting to the turbine side of the turbo regardless of how the provent is plumbed. The only way it can get in is through the seal.

Correct, we just slid through one topic onto the next.

Redid the oil feed so it mostly doesn't leak now and went for a short run. Didn't have time to play with the fuel or wastegate but the spool comes on early and it gets to 6psi not far above idle.

Tomorrow I'll have more time and will be able to go for a longer run and push it a little harder.. I could smell the residue from the oil leak and kept having to stop as it was feaking me out

One thing that really stands out though, is just how much noise this turbo makes. IT HOWLS.

I'll see if I can record the noise, but it really does sound like this :

You'd want to hope it doesn't sound quite like that

You say that like it's a bad thing!

I've found turbo whistle is greatly affected by the piping into the turbo. Plastic/rubber piping does a better job of muffling it. Steel intake piping does a great job of loudening it. As does the air-cleaner.

Goes really well, no problem launching up all nearby hills at speed limit.... But the oil leak is back - if only at high revs.

Previously I had a leak around the alt, so I went all out getting Aeroflow fittings.. Well they are all tight and seems to be leaking too . Total PITA.

They are flange sealed.. So I can't use sealant.. I guess I just keep trying to get them tighter right?

Check for damage or debris on the seats.

I think its fixed now.. but there is so much residue around it's hard to be sure

Wastegate at max (opening at 18.7psi according to the book, 16 by the gauge) and 3 turns on the fuel screw..

It doesn't feel like there is a turbo - no lag. It just smoothly runs up through the revs. Certainly wouldn't say it was 'quick' (I'm spoiled by my other car..) but it will accelerate up steep hills with the traffic.

    I'm happy

Well I've worked out why the turbo is so noisy.. The flange doesn't seal properly - it warped when I welded it

It will be held pretty tightly though by the v-band so a little putty should be OK.

    just an update.

Sealed the vband with some exhaust putty. Worked a treat. Had previously confused the speed screw with the fuel governor.. so retuned it.

Maxing out at 22psi, 525 DegC max EGT.. but I don't have a hill that is steep enough with high enough speed limit to properly test it.

Goes like stink. No lag. Boost from nothing. Pulls from nothing. Small amount of smoke (same as when it was N/A) but nothing offensive.

But I fear for my drive train.. And I really have to watch out for speed limits
