Isuzu Defender Shocks & Springs

I have king springs in the front (air springs rear) and bilsteins all round.

The kings and shocks were fitted before I bought the car in 2000, (I think they were fitted in '98). During that time I have swapped the bullbar from alloy to steel and fitted a winch. The springs are still holding up fine and haven't sagged.

I drove a mates Isuzu 120 today with brand new Bilstein shocks fitted, a lot lighter than the County in the rear, but the ride felt great.

Yeah Murray - I remember your setup well. Yours or Steve's setup is pretty much where I'm looking at - similarly set up vehicles, and similarly laden down in the rear.

Hi Mike

My 85 Isuzu has ; Steel bull bar ,warn winch ,steel cable , rear cargo barrier , alumin roof rack , heaps of heavy noise lining and runs Bilsteins ,the original ( at least I think they are still the original at 272000 miles )OE springs and Polyair bags in the rear always left at 20 psi.
The ride is very comfy and seems to me to corner really well.
It still has the Boge Hydromat fitted and is at standard height.
I am in Eltham in Vic if you want a test drive. I reckon I could find some really crappy dirt and asphalt roads nearby
