    Biodiesel. Use and availability

I did a search but had trouble finding anything specific to Isuzu's ( Maybe I am just a crap searcher )

The Isuzu currently runs like a dream ( xxx on any jinxes )
I run diesel power through on every 4th or 5th tank and it has d gas injection.

    1. Are there any specific issues with Biodiesel and Isuzu's
    2. Does biodiesel cost more than standard diesel.
    3. Does the exhaust smell like fish and chips
    4. Where do I find a list of outlets in Vic around the northern burbs

    1. Oil dilution and fuel filter clogging are the only issues - just do oil analysis and change fuel filters regularly.
    3. No - on bio it just smells different. On SVO/WVO it smells like fish and chips.

    1. I don't know what the rubber seals in the pump are made from. BioD can melt rubber seals and hoses if they are a resistant material. Most pump seals and hoses are Viton now. Europe sells lots of BioD and if a vehicle is sold in the EU, then most are able to run it. Nissan told me my vehicle wasn't made to run on it, yet the same vehicle sold in Germany could run 100% BioD. I wouldn't imagine that a production line component would be manufactured for one big market, yet changed for a small market such as ours, but it is a risk you take.

    2. I used to buy it near Newcastle (Rutherford) from a factory and I got it for around 20c/L less that the going price for diesel. I had to buy a 200L drum full though. at the pump it was 5c cheaper.

    3. it smells like cooking oil burning off a BBQ. Not unpleasant.

As far as I can recall, the fuel injection pump on a 4BD1 doesn't have any rubber seals that are exposed to fuel.

Don't forget also in an old 110 it is unlikely to be running original fuel lines, and who knows the specs of the replacements.
