I'm not overly worried as it was running a month ago, but anything I should be checking?? IS it possible to airlock an IP??
Mate, don't bypass the lift pump and fuel filter.

You have a Bosch 'A' style inline pump, not the rotary style pump like a 300Tdi. (Edit) don't assume what you can do with a 300Tdi , is suitable for a 4BD1 (end edit)

The rotary pump has an internal vane pump to pressurise the pump housing and inlet to the pump plunger. This allows them to run (in many cases) without a functioning lift pump.

The 'A' pump needs the lift pump to pressurise the fuel gallery, which runs alongside the pump elements. BTW the bleed screw that was mentioned above is at the far end of the gallery to where the inlet, where the line from the filter connects.

The pump elements rely on the lubricity of the fuel and the fine clearances necessary to obtain high pressure, demand the fuel filter. (edit) the rest of the pump is lubricated with engine oil (end edit).
