That rear end is centred due to the NP231? You may find it impossible to fit to the D1 without problems due to angles vs wheel base.

Also, I am confused a little, if you want to use those 4.56 gears then yes, you will need some serious OD ratios , you WILL need to use at least the 700R4 and the 1.003:1 LT230 (These are easy to connect together, IIRC Marks Adapters do a kit Land Rover - Transfer Case Adaptors ), and at least 35" tyres. How does the jeep go with that drivetrain? What tyres are you running? What sort of highway use does it get???

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

Yes, it is a centered housing, I would have to either build a new rear axle, or use my NP231.

My disco will see either 33-35" rubber. I am currently running 37" rubber, but I feel my cruise rpms are about 200 low. With 35" tires, Id be right sweet with 4.56 ratio.

    the jeep weighs 6500lbs.

My mileage is all across the board. Ive been constantly adjusting this and that from day one. I have about 6000 miles on it now. THeres no real medium to base mileage. I saw 26mpg but that was a tank burned almost 80% on 45mph roads. worst ive had is 7mpg. Ive been "averaging" 12-15, but my timing is very far off, and no real baseline. Id estimate to see 20-22 once it is tuned.

Too low, geez, .966 t/case, 3.54 diff, 35" tyres and could almost need an overdrive. These engines like to labour, not rev.

Moneypit, have a read of this: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/isuzu-land...o-its-way.html

I think in your situation I'd buy the R380 and 300tdi, fit that and drive it while you plan your next move.
Unless you somehow kill it, you'll be able to pull and sell the 300tdi/R380 at any point and recover your money.

    Hi moneypit,

Here's a few pics of my brother's 4BD1 Disco as promised.

    Raised oil filter

    Sump clearance above axle

It's been raised by ~ 3" - see the length of extended bump stop:

Very interesting thread dougal, thanks for the link.

offender90, thanks for the photos, looks like it fits better in that bay than under my jeep.

Here are some of my engine bay pictures from this thread: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/isuzu-land...5-classic.html

This is an 85 RRC, the engine bay and drivetrain is very close to the discovery, they made small changes over the years to both RRC and disco 1.

Mine runs maybe 1" over normal ride height. It has longer front bottomout bumpers fitted to restrict front suspension compression by 1 inch and keep the diff off the engine sump. This is as low as you can go with these engines in this chassis.
