    Cold Weather

Here in Colorado, USA we are having a cold snap. This morning it was 2F and I am quite chuffed that the Suzi started with little drama. With -15F forecast for tomorrow, we're in for some fun. Glow plugs and block heater are wired up. Now I need some better insulation.

Chilly! You might be one of the few people on here who actually need the glow plugs.

It was ~-20F this am. With a few rounds of glow it fired up, however, after a few miles the filter plugged with gelled fuel. A quick dose of anti-gel in the filter and tank and a couple hours soaking in the sun and the Suzi fired up and has been running well. Lessons learned: the 2 micron filter element will clog ~-20F if sufficient aftermarket fuel treatment is not used, a spare bottle of anti-gel is a good idea to carry with the on board spares, a heated fuel filter is also a good idea in sub-zero F conditions, the stock LR heater (new condition) is woefully insufficient.
