I didn't prime after doing the sediment filter, but I was informed by somebody on this great forum to put it back full of diesel.
Also the water drain plug can be hard to undo and might brake from being brittle. There is a 11mm nut on the top, undo that and the two sections will seperate from the lid part.
Then attack with brake cleaner!

The standard CAV combined sedimenter/filter bolts straight in in place of the original sedimenter, but some of us have bought a longer bolt to retain the metal bowl from the original sedimenter.

Like this. I used the one with the glass bowl so you can see if any water or crud is building up. It is reasonably well protected by the outrigger but I always carry a spare glass bowl on the off chance a stone may break it on gravel roads. Has survived about 20 years now so I think I am carrying that spare for nothing!
So the standard sedimenter can be re-used all i need to do is remove the metal section in the middle and stick a delphi 296 filter in between, with a longer bolt?Quote:
