What MSA box are you using and from what?

Am getting over waiting for a conversion kit so am looking at my options or even building my own. The 6X6 has been sitting without progress for a year for lack of a box.

Looking at the various Isuzu boxes, the common ones for use in our Land Rover LT230 applications.
    1. MSA-5G
    2. MSA-5P
    3. MSA-5R

Who has what and how do they find them?

(What model truck did it come from?)

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

MSA5G...I can only say at this stage I find them at wreckers ...can't say how I find them when running...long way off yet. Out of some truck says the wrecker.

You spoke to Outcast? Buy the shaft and do your own casing?

    I have 5g and 5p. The 5p has a lower third gear.

    My 5p originally came from a 1985 npr59 series truck with 4BD1T. My 5g came from a 1991 npr with 4be1.

Here is a list of the ratios Dougal posted on 4BTswaps a while back that I had saved

    MSA-5D
    1st - 5.670
    2nd - 3.415
    3rd - 1.900
    4th - 1.331
    5th - 1.000
    R - 5.680

    MSA-5G,
    5.788:1
    2.998:1
    1.594:1
    1.000:1
    0.776:1
    5.798:1

    MSA-5P,
    5.788:1
    2.998:1
    1.735:1
    1.000:1
    0.776:1
    5.798:1

    MSA-5R,
    4.987:1
    2.998:1
    1.594:1
    1.000:1
    0.728:1
    4.774:1

The 5G would be the best option in a 110 tho the 5P which I have here may well be a better option in a truck or 101 or for hauling loads

I have designed my own adaptor to fit the LT230 to the MSA I just need to pull my finger out and get the parts cut to see how it goes

As for making the spud shaft I have that sorted as well as a shifter

I originally had drivability issues with the gap between 3 and 4 on the 5p. But this was due to a rooted turbo, worn out boost compensator in the pump and wrong pump settings.

These issues are now gone and I could live happily with the 5p now.

I would most like to try the 5r box due to the higher 5th gear. But will go 6 speed in the future if I can make it fit and work.

    MSA - 5G

    I have a 5G.
    From an NKR truck.

I'm happy with it overall but feel that it could be a little taller in 5th, sitting on 100. Thats with 33s. Non turbo, was fine, but now I'd say the 5P might have the edge. Not that i've tried it.
1st & reverse are crazy low. real nice in the rocks, or towing in high range. In a bog reverse can be too slow, even in high range some times.

I'm contemplating going to 35s. This would probably fix most issue, not that they're really problems. 2nd gear start are slightly too tall but not an issue with the 4bd1.

    Hope that helps.
