    Lt 95 transfer case

I have a gearbox that jumps out of high range when under load. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it. The gearbox has very low k's on it.

1....This is usually the cause, make sure that nothing like insulation is touching the transfer gear levers/rods (especially on the perenties where the lever comes through the transmission tunnel and rubber)
2....Check adjustment between rear fork and gear is correct
3....Drop the transfer sump and check the intermediate shaft for endfloat (incorrect shimming)
4....If all of the above is ok then check the hi range gear and selector hub for worn dog teeth.

Regarding the the Disco 1 LT230 transfer case. I've found that the detente ball bearings in use seems to be wrong for the hi/neutral/low. Don't know if this could be relevant to your LT 95 situation.

The diff lock uses a 3/8 inch ball in a 3/8 inch slot. All good.

The hi/neutral/low has a 3/8 inch ball, but trying to mate with a 1/4 inch slot. In other words the ball sits on the shoulders of the slot, rather than fully in the slot. In hi or low I found the slightest bump would send the box to neutral. Tightening the grub stopped the jumping out, at the expense of being almost impossible to move!

I thought this was just an anomaly on the first transfer case I worked on - some previous owner in the box before me losing the original ball and doing a substitute - until I opened up three other transfer cases to find the same issue.

Four 1/4 inch ball bearings later, I now have four transfer cases that shift firmly but without difficulty, and stay where they're told.
