    Top Up Oil Help

    Hi All

I bought my Perentie from a guy who only had it for a few months after he bought it from the auction ... He took it straight to Landrover to have it serviced and they replaced oils etc.

My question is ... If I need to top up the engine or gearbox oil which type should I use .. Will it cause issues if I use a different oil to what is already used?

    Thanks

    Craig

Any reasonable 15w40 diesel oil in both the engine and gearbox. Neither the engine or gearbox is particularly fussy. I wouldn't be concerned about it being a different brand etc than whats in it.
I use Castrol RX Super, but mainly because I get it by the 20L drum for a decent price at the truck spares place close to work.

oil is cheap, grab a 20L drum of Castrol RX super 15w40 diesel oil from any truck supply place or Supercheap Auto and you can change it yourself. That way you know what's in it.

Great thing about the Perentie; the gearbox, engine transfer case and PTO (if you have one) all take the same oil. A 20L drum will run you about $100, then all you need is a drain pan, a couple of sump plug gaskets, a hand pump and you can do a full oil change for less that $150!
