fire wall insulation?? what is that?? some thing added by some one?
all the same, same block
WD40, and a ring spanner, as well as a jack, use the isuzu mounts, a bit thicker so a bit harder to get in but softer
Hi I have a few questions for the isuzu gurus out there. I did the head gasket and have had that now resolved.
First question:
In the process I have realised that the foam and crap that is only partially there is the remains of what was my fire wall insulation. What's the best and where do I get it from and average price?
Second question:
What's the tourque settings for a 1985 first month (so I'm assuming it's a 1984 block) on the head and etc inlet and exhaust manifold bolts also the oil sump bolt tensions ( now is the perfect time to total overhaul!! )
I have a 86 model work shop manual is there any diffence?
Lastly:
How the hell do I change the beeping engine mounts? I have tried and tried but I can't get the leverage to undo the bolts?

I thought exactly the same until I had to do my head gasket. Now with the head off there is heaps of room. I just don't know what to use?
Whitworth's have a boat engine foil+foam insulation - it is self adhesive but would need proper preparation.
Yes they do, but be warned, if you go to the melbourne city store and tell the old bloke you want the insulation to sound proof a land rover - there is a good chance he will wet himself.
He will laugh all the way to the store room and when he comes back he will crack up again. At some point he will catch his breath and tell you that he used to own a series landy back in prehistoric times. I have never seen a man so happy to own a Toyota!
I used the thick Whitworths insulation (one with the heavy stiff middle layer) on the county. Used a shiny insulation tape from Bunnings for joints and it seems to have stood up well over the 4 years since fitted.
The adhesive on the insulation is VERY aggressive. Once stuck, its not coming off without destroying the foam.
Good for keeping it on there, but provides some challenges to get it in the right place initially. I did mine with the guards off so wasn't too bad. Try and only expose the minimum adhesive area until you get it in place, then work on peeling the rest of the backing off.

put it on the inside of the firewall as well. it'll stop any heat transfer dead in it's tracks
It is very much just a bubble foil type product, but works exactly as advertised!
