I wasn't sure how important these little bushes are however I spent about 45 minutes and using the dimensions of my remaining crumbling bushing I made a 3D printable bushing. I don't expect it to get over 150C there (hopefully) so these should do without melting.

So i guess if anyone ever has a need to print some of these off, I made a fat one(V2) and a thin one (V1), The thin one(V1) was designed on the dimensions of my crumbling one but I didn't feel it fit super snug, so i enlarged it a bit (v2).

Did Adelaide to Uluru via Flinders, Oodnadatta track, Simpson and didnt miss a beat. UNTIL.. we got back to Adelaide and we had a real cold day and the idle went a bit strange in the Landy. First i thought i was cause the oil may have gotten a tad thin in all that traveling. But today driving down the road to work, I accelerated to 2500rpm and she stuck there. I depressed the clutch so i could slow down, and after a few taps of the accelerator it dropped to 1200rpm (but can get stuck again). Upon investigation tonight i found the spring/governor? on the diesel injector pump has broken, and i guess the secondary spring is in the process of failing as well. So the question i have are; What are these springs called? Where can i get new ones? (I cant seem to locate a part number) Thanks in advance all. -Marc

So a final update for anyone in the future or people interested. Isuzu got the parts in no dramas. They cost about $33 each, which is a bit dear but if you consider they have lasted about 19 years not too bad.

One little trick I did was to use the old broken spring to hook into the new spring to give me some much needed length and pull-ability(yes its a word ). So I put the springs into the bushes (the 3d printed ones i made) and mount, and then stretched it towards the rear of the car over the post witht he split pin on top. No issue at all (excluding the cramped space).

Thanks for your guys (Bearman, Phil B and Blknight.aus) help.

In short i would say I found this a million times easier than changing the handbrake->transfer box oil seal.

Official evidence that the 4BD1 is an unreliable heap of junk.
