    Think that article is referring mainly to petrol engines - specifically the ref to leaning causing higher EGT's. The No.4 issue I interpret as being only for electronically controlled injection - not mechanical pumps.

    it applies to mechanical injectors too, too low a crack pressure will wind up with dribbly nozzles and poor pattern causing a heat rise as the fuel continues to burn later in the power stroke and if its bad enough and you're revving fast enough as it comes out the exhaust valve.
