lt85, 5th gear growl
Hello all. 1987 110 with 4bd1, aftermarket turbo and a rebuilt lt85. A few weeks ago as I was leaving for a 3000km+ camping trip the clutch's slave cylinder went out and needed to be replaced. At that time I touched the clutch a bit heavy in 4th removing it from the motorway (not a heavy burn, but there was a touch of smoke for a moment while I got it off the road at high rpm in 4th).
repaired and on the trip, it started what I can only describe as a 5th gear growl when the accelerator is maintaining speed or with any acceleration in 5th. Nothing being towed and nothing specific to uphill travel.
I check the rear diff fluid and it is fine. Will check the front diff in the morning. The transfer case was a bit low, bit not extraordinarily so.
looking for ideas as to what it may be. Any input from experience that might be helpful would be greatly appreciated.
