    Replacing 4BD1 engine mounts?

Gday all, After a long trip the hard roads and dodging kangaroos took its toll on one of the engine mounts.. LH.. Now if i can source one I thought I should ask whats the deal with replacing them?

Can i just undo both mounts jack the engine up (support it safely etc) and then replace the mount/s. Or is it bigger than i realise? Any tricks?

EDIT, I found that the mount was bad when i started the car in first with the handbrake on (like a fool).. it pushed the engine forward on the left, and lifted the gearbox, and showed about 2cm of new tailshaft :P, I then hobbled home with 1st 3rd and 5th as the others i couldnt change too as it was fouling on the tin :P (that adventure is half the fun).

They are easy enough to source and replace ozeraser. Do you have the part number for the left one? - it is different to the rh one. To replace, pretty much as you say - undo the 3 bolts, jack it up and replace.

The rubber mounts are the same for trucks and land rovers, only the steel mounts that bolt to the engine are different.

I stand corrected on the mounts. I think the hole spacings are the same.

So i found some of the landrover Isuzu mounts

For those who are intrested here is a short clip showing where the mounts are bad.

    [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UWF2qcZX3w[/ame]

I jack the truck up to release the tension on the mounts and the pop back to their correct position.

I have started undoing the current mounts, although the top side is real hard to get to, one side some oil line and other side injector pump. also they are castle nuts for some reason but i dont think they have a split pin or anything.

I made some of my own penetrating oil which was ATV and acetons 50/50 to try and loosen them up.

So not sure anyone is following, But anyway I got the new shiny landrover isuzu mounts from Fred Smith Automotive in VIC, was about $60 per mount.

I have got the new mounts in now, I had to undo the fan shroud as i couldn't lift the engine because the fan was fouling on it.

But the new mounts are in and the old mounts are out. I unfortunately missed the closing time of the local fastener place, I wanted to get some nice new shiny nuts and bolts, supercheap didn't have any in the right sizes.

Now here is a question, is anyone running nyloc nuts on their mounts?
