SubscriberGlow plugs.....-6 degrees plus...Canberra Winter morning, my 4bd1T failed to commence on two revolutions...
Wondered if the batteries didn't appreciate the cold. Things are a bit 'ornery at this hour and temp.
Turns out there is a time that these wonderful engines need a bit of glow plug help....

Glow plugs are for precious little snowflake diesels that need coddling.The mighty Isuzu just needs a couple more engine revolutions mid-Canberra winter to fire up. Pretty sure my glowplugs don't work at all; at least, they don't seem to make much difference to how quickly it fires up!
(The enormous Caterpillar battery its got probably helps though).

Yes your Horse/antelope sized battery is more than likely helping things along up there in the ACT with the White Walkers...
I of course become suspicious and narky when things fail to proceed as expected no matter the weather...Canberra Winters...meh
um I may have some lingering doubts about the alternator....

A few seconds more definitely helps on the -5 mornings up here. With a good battery a couple of turns is all it takes to start the isuzu.
