    Clutches for High Performance Isuzu's

    Hello everyone,

I thought I might try my luck here, and see if you guys have any recommendations.

Basically, me and a few others are running the Holset HX30w (or HX30/35 hybrid) at 28-36psi and we are noticing that even 'Heavy Duty' clutches don't hold up.

My current clutch is the Xtreme Outback KLR28003-1AX with the below specs:
Clamp Load: 1100Kg (40% inc. over OE)
Torque (Nm): (the 1000kg pressure plate is rated to 560nm, so math says the 1100kg is good for 616nm)
    Flywheel Step: 0
    Clutch Disc Diameter (mm): 275
    Clutch Disc Spline Count: 10
Clutch Disc Spline Diameter (mm): 28.6
    Weight (kg): 12.14

A couple of options I am investigating thanks to Patrol owners are the 4terrain clutch and Viper Clutch. The issue with these two options are the splines on the friction plates are fine spline as opposed to the Land Rover course spline.

    Also to note:
The Isuzu truck clutch is 305mm (12") and flywheel OD is 390mm, so we can go bigger pressure plate and friction plate (hopefully they will fit the LT95 bellhousing)
The Xtreme Outback pressure plate is the same as a Nissan Patrol TD42.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts,

    BadCo.

See if you can track down Dave (Blknight.aus) as he is well versed with getting higher power outputs out of Isuzu diesels, and will probably have a good idea what will survive behind them!

Have you checked the Dana-Spicer site? They may have a cerametallic clutch to suit.

Interesting call JC, but I will say that putting a 3 speed Ford C9 behind a 350 in my POS 74 RRC transformed the whole deal.

Kinda drives like a 70's automatic car on the road, but has heaps of poke. I can sit comfortably on 110 or more if I want.

There is no loss of 4wd ability, maybe a gain.......... in that you can easily, lightly touch the brake pedal while driving through boggy stuff to simulate traction control. It does crawl downhill.

Custom T/Convertor was 1800 stall from memory.

People who've been in mine are all buying auto 4wd's now just for the smoothness and forgivingness.

    Thanks, DL

Im still converting my 110 to auto at the moment. Have been stupid busy so its not finished yet. Done it right this time using a bigger v8 late d1 torque converter, a tdi valve body and governor too. Hopefully itll be running again soon😣
