    Living in Sydney is at least 2.5 hours at 110kph before im pulling off a freeway. Some long hills also.
    Whatever you want really. It will do 140 on the flats. You can sit at 110 all day long. The biggest advantage of the turbo is that hills won't slow you down.

    A T28 size turbo transforms a 4BD1. The turbo results in more power and torque across the rev range (obviously) which:
    - makes for more effortless driving experience;
    - results in quicker gear changes;
    - allows for maintaining speed up hills and safer overtaking;
    - easier beach driving.

    The turbo also acts as a baffle and makes the engine quieter.

    You don’t need a turbo, but it’s a good upgrade.

    We live in flat country and the FFR performs great, but it's a different story in the hills, especially when towing.
    However ours is non turbo. It could have done with twin turbo's on the way home from 2018 Winter Wombat,
    towing a trailer and a very strong head winds, 80kph was tops, yet it still delivered 16 litres per 100.
    As for going fast, who really wants to in a Perentie, like Rod said, 90kph is a comfortable speed, not too much
    noise and the fuel consumption is reasonable. A sensible speed if your still running stock wheels with tubes too.
    For anyone over age 55 who is starting to experience the joys of osteoarthritis, I reckon power assisted steering
    is a must have item on the Perentie.

    Cheers, Mick

    Throw a turbo on a 4bd1 and it transforms it into a 300tdi with torque

    The turbo made a big difference up hills with a full family touring load.

    100% agree, power steering should be one of the 1st upgrades, regardless of age.

    I love driving the Isuzu , Sure it's not fast mines a non turbo.

    I needed to drive the parts car for a while ( while I fixed the perentie front diff) It's a 95 defender 300tdi ,
    I had trouble reversing out the drive ( it is on a hill) , While it was cold ....not so bad when it's warm .
    The Isuzu could just idle out and up the entire hill if need be , Cold or warm it didn't care

    love the isuzu .
